Local Food Roundtable:
Sustainable Agriculture Education, Planning and Networking DRAFT
The Local Food Roundtable
will serve an education function. The objective of the Local Food
Roundtable will be to bring together the SARE PDP
advisory board, parish and state extension,
growers/producers, agricultural professionals, chefs, consumers, NGOs,
health care professionals, and LSU
AgCenter and SU AgCenter administrators
to discuss sustainable agriculture and local food systems in Louisiana.
The goal of the
roundtable will be to solicit and target priority areas for increasing
sustainable agriculture education and resources to agents, farmers, and
community stakeholders. Each table will be hosted by a previous
Sustainable Agriculture Working Group Conference attendee from either
the LSU AgCenter or SU AgCenter. The table host will facilitate
discussion and each table will identify ten strategic goals to increase
sustainable agriculture in Louisiana. An invited speaker will
provide the keynote address as well as facilitate discussion and
streamline an agenda for expanding sustainable agriculture and
suggestions for developing local food projects in Louisiana.
